So you are thinking about hiring a professional resume writer? Well, there are certainly a large number of resume writing services out there. Some good, some bad, and some “so so.”
If you are searching for a resume writer on Google, you will probably make yourself dizzy while reading all of the search results. So, what is the BEST way to determine if the resume writer is legit? EASY ANSWER! Use the following checklist: Does the business have a legit website? Does the content of the website contain spelling errors? Does the business have any reviews listed on Google? If so, how many positive ones in relation to negative ones? Does the business GUARANTEE that you will get a new job if you use their resume service? NOBODY should be making this promise! Last, but certainly not least, does the business actually answer the phone when you place a call to them? Yes, that last bullet is HUGE! Whenever I receive a call from a prospective client, one of the first things I usually hear is “WOW, I FINALLY FOUND A RESUME WRITER THAT ANSWERS THE PHONE!” If a resume writing business does not have time to answer the phone for a quick conversation with you, then they likely don’t have the free time to create a QUALITY new resume for you, either! I have discovered that many other writers in my field are basically scared to talk to clients! Many antisocial writers only want to communicate via email and text! I have been the owner/operator of a successful resume writing business (www.resumephenom.com) for the past 15 years and I can honestly say that I have ALWAYS enjoyed picking up the phone to chat about the art of resume writing with a potential new customer! No matter what the industry, you want to work with a business that takes the time to say hello in person or via phone. If they only want to say hello through email or text, then that means it’s time for you to say GOODBYE!!!!!
